We are pleased to invite you to the first edition of the Annual EU Civil Justice Conference dedicated to the evolving EU civil justice and liability framework.
The EU’s civil justice and liability framework is entering a decisive phase, with major implications for legal certainty, risk allocation and the functioning of the Single Market. Recent developments on the Product Liability Directive (PLD) and the Representative Actions Directive (RAD), and the intensifying debate on Third-Party Litigation Funding (TPLF), are reshaping how litigation risks, consumer protection and business exposure are balanced across the Union.
As national transposition advances and enforcement practices begin to take shape, practical challenges are emerging, including divergent interpretations, evidentiary burdens, compliance costs and cross-border procedural complexities. At the same time, the corporate sustainability agenda, through the CSDDD and CSRD, is introducing a new layer of liability exposure and due diligence obligations that intersects directly with these litigation trends.
We will address the following issues:
● Third-Party Litigation Funding (TPLF) and Representative Actions: state of play and next steps;
● The Product Liability Directive (PLD) and its implications for manufacturers and industry across sectors;
● ADR/Ombudsman mechanisms as a complement to formal litigation;
